Planetary health is a concept published in 2015 as a paper in Lancet, a famous medical journal, which emphasizes interdependence of the health of the planet (with ecosystems on it) and the health/soundness of human and their societies/civilizations, with which both planet and humans can be sustainable. At the same time, planetary health refers to the body of research and actions based on the research that, when combined, enable us to achieve such a sustainable status. We might regard planetary health as a prescription for the contemporary Anthropocene world that has been confronted with complex issues originating from our own collective behavior and compromising the environment-society-economics together. In this talk, I would try to discuss how the current biomedical science can be viewed through the "lens" of planetary health" and whether and how planetary health can make input to biomedical science.
