One Health recognizes the inextricable links between human, animal, and environmental health, emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration. While life science research has traditionally focused on biological mechanisms and disease agents, social medicine delves into the impact of socioeconomic status, cultural practices, healthcare systems, and policy decisions on health. By combining these perspectives, we gain a comprehensive understanding of the determinants of health within the One Health framework, enabling us to address complex health challenges, including those posed by climate change. This holistic approach is crucial, as climate change brings forth diverse health impacts, from heat-related illnesses to infectious diseases and mental health issues. To effectively mitigate these threats, we must integrate mitigation measures with adaptation strategies, embracing a multidisciplinary approach to create a healthier and more sustainable world for all.
