In the research and development of pharmaceuticals, the efficacy and safety are evaluated in non-clinical trials using animals or commercialized human frozen cells before actually administering them to humans in clinical trials. However, compared to the use of fresh human blood or cells, it often does not reflect in vivo functions, and extrapolation to humans is not necessarily high. In other words, by using fresh human blood, it is possible to accurately evaluate the drug response in cell function, and pharmacodynamic (PD) assay can lead to translational research to clinical trials.
In this presentation, I will explain the use of fresh blood by showing examples.
